Cellist Wesley Baldwin's 2010-11 Concert Season

The 2010-11 concert season promises to be a very busy one indeed for cellist Wesley Baldwin. The summer season will include chamber, recital, and concerto appearances at the Hot Springs, Wintergreen, and Michigan City Music Festivals. In addition to performances of large works including string sextets by Tchaikovsky and Schoenberg, piano quartets by Dvorak, Mahler, Mozart, and Brahms, string quartets by Haydn, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and others, and the Ravel Duo over the course of the summer in Arkansas, Virginia, and Indiana, Wesley will be performing a new work for him, the A major Cello Concerto by Wagenseil, with the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra, both at Wintergreen Resort and outside Washington, D.C., at Monticello.

The fall will see Wesley reprising his North American premier performance of the Jacob ter Veldhuis “Rainbow” Concerto with conductor Dan Allcott. Only the orchestra has changed this season. This time Wesley will be returning as soloist with the Oak Ridge Symphony. Later in next year’s season, Wesley will appear as concerto soloist with the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra.

Other significant performances for Wesley next year include solo and duo recitals in Florida, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, and Missouri.

Finally, Wesley’s recording, on the Albany label, of music by Alan Shulman featuring cello was released on May 1, 2010. One can order the new CD from Amazon, and many other sites.
